Episode 40- Keep, Stop, Start

So, it’s 2020.  We don’t want the whole year to be about hindsight. Only 1/3 of it.  So with that 1/3 in mind, what are you going to keep doing that you’ve been doin’.

Dragon’s Breath

We literally got this cocktail from “The Barbecue Bible” because with both getting smokers over the holidays, we wanted to use them! The recipe is for 2 cocktails because #conversionsarehard. If you want to share, you can, but if you want to save it for yourself, you don’t have to tell anyone. The original recipe uses a brandy snifter which is ideally suited for holding in more smoke. I didn’t have one so I made sure to add some extra smoke after I poured the cocktail in.

Ingredients-

  • 6-8 ice cubes (for even more flavor, use smoked ice cubes)

  • 4 oz bourbon

  • 1/2 oz elderflower liqueur

  • 1/2 oz Cointreau

  • 1/2 oz simple syrup or smoked simple syrup

Instructions-

Load the smoking gun with chips and fire it up following the manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the smoker tube into your glass and fill it with smoke until you can’t see through the glass, holding it upside down. Tightly cover the glass with a coaster to hold in the smoke and turn it upright.

Place the ice cubes in a shaker. Add the bourbon, St-Germain, Cointreau, and simple syrup and stir rapidly for about 20 seconds. Uncover the glass and immediately strain the cocktail into it. Serve at once, with the smoke still spilling from the glass.
